Florence McCutchan Groves Moore

Florence McCutchan Groves Moore, 96, departed this life for greater glory on August 6, 2007 from the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, Ky. She was born on Nov. 19, 1910 in Knoxville, TN to the late Arthur and Mary Margaret McCutchan Groves. Her passing is deeply grieved by her children and grandchildren, for whom she was a wonderful parent and friend.

She was renowned for walking throughout Sequoyah Hills in Knoxville during her retirement. She taught school for many years, interrupted only by family duties, finishing with more than twenty years teaching the first grade at Bell House School.
She was a voracious reader with wide-ranging interests. Throughout her life, to friends and strangers alike, she gave constantly of herself the gifts of good cheer, friendship, and service. In 1989, Mrs. Moore moved to the Episcopal Church Home where she has received excellent and loving care for the last 18 years with her loving daughter, Mary Jennings, a constant companion. Special thanks are extended to the staff at the Episcopal Church Home for their assistance and kindness. She is survived by: three children, Arthur Groves Moore and wife, Terry, of Raleigh, NC; Thomas Fremont Moore and wife, Dana, of Northborough, Mass; and Mary McCutchan Moore Jennings and husband, the Reverend Robert Jennings of Louisville.
