Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 7, for Hubert McCutcheon who died in Santa Cruz California on June 29, 2007 at the age of 90.
Born in Bakersfield, he was raised there and graduated from Bakersfield High School. Mr. McCutcheon has resided in La Crescenta, La Canada, and Hemet, California. He was employed with Southern Pacific Railroad for 25 years as a mechanic. He later worked as an agent for State Mutual Insurance Company with a career of 20 years, and earning top honors as a million dollar producer. His family will forever remember his love for gardening and hunting, and his passion for collecting maps. Mr. McCutcheon's dedication to his family and his hard work ethics were loving examples to all who knew him.
He began working with the railroad at the age of 18 in 1935, and married Melba Riploy on April 11, 1941. She preceded him in death. He was a long time member of Hemet Masonic Lodge # 615 F & AM Mr. McCutcheon is survived by his daughter and son in-law, Gail Bauer and John Bauer III of Aptos, California, and his son and daughter in-law, Gary and Sharon McCutcheon of La Crescenta. He also leaves a brother, Delmar McCutcheon of Bakersfield; four grandchildren: Lori McCutcheon, Heather Lightheart (Jason) John Bauer IV (Daisy) and Lance Bauer (Andrea), and three great grandchildren; Boyd, Delaney, and Joshua. He is also survived by three nieces and two nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7th at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel (1050 Cayuga St.) in Santa Cruz, beginning at 3 p.m. Santa Cruz Lodge # 38 F & AM will also offer a final tribute.
