William Thomas (Bill) McCutcheon Jr., 85, of Zanesville, Ohio died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1924 in Zanesville and was the son of the late William Thomas, Sr. and Claris (Moore) McCutcheon. He retired after 30 plus years of service as a pressman for the Columbus (Ohio) Dispatch where he served as secretary and treasurer twenty years for the Union Local #15. He was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School Class, was a former treasurer, sang in the choir and volunteered parking cars during Zanesville High School events. Bill was a United States Army World War II Veteran. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Kathleen L. (Stonerock) McCutcheon of the home, whom he married March 5, 1949; two daughters, Janette L. (Kan) Su of Houston, Texas and Joyce A. Seymour of Zanesville; a son, Phillip M. (Kathy Brunner) McCutcheon of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Josephine Sheets of Zanesville, Sally Hampton of Columbus, Ohio and Bessie (Max) Hittle of Dresden; three brothers, Joseph (Evelyn) McCutcheon and Glenn McCutcheon, both of Zanesville and John E. (Sylvia) McCutcheon of Upatoi, Georgia; three grandchildren, Julie Boggs of Zanesville, Benjamin Su of Austin, Texas and Emily Su of Houston, Texas; and two great grandchildren, Destiny Boggs and Chanell Boggs, both of Zanesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Wanda, Peggy and Helen. A service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Faith United Methodist Church, 1616 Blue Ave., Zanesville with Rev. Nancy Amos officiating. Burial followed at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. VFW George Selsam Post #1058 in conjunction with the United States Army held full military rites at the graveside.
Bill, a former member of The McCutchen Trace Association, was a descendant of John McCutcheon of Augusta County, VA through son Robert and Margaret Callison) McCutcheon.
